Sherry Monahan was born in Illinois, raised in south Jersey (she’s a southerner), and now lives in North Carolina (told you she was a southerner).
She began her writing career in high school writing for the school newspaper. Her love of food and cooking also began in high schoool wheere she began taking culinary classes.
On a quest to find the truth about the history of food in Tombstone, Arizona, Sherry began her research in earnest in 1995. In 1998 her passion for writing and cooking led her to become a first-time published author.
Sherry Monahan is the author of five published books: Apex, NC, Taste of Tombstone, which won two 1999 Glyph Awards; Pikes Peak: Adventurers, Communities and Lifestyles, which was an AASLH finalist; The Wicked West: Boozers, Cruisers, Gamblers, and More, and Tombstone’s Treasure: Silver Mines & Golden Saloons.
She was the co-host of an episode of the Lost Worlds show for the History Channel on Deadwood, which appeared in the fall 2007. She will be appearing in a new show called, Cowboys and Outlaws: Wyatt Earp later this year on the History Channel. She also appeared on the History Channel in the Investigating History and Wild West Tech series. In addition, she is serving as the historical consultant for the movie, The Territory, which is still in its early stages.
She is a contributing editor and food stylist for True West magazine with her Frontier Fare column. Other publications include the Tombstone Times, Tombstone Tumbleweed, Tombstone Epitaph, Arizona Highways, and other freelance works. She was a contributor to The Best of the Best of Arizona and Encyclopedia of Prostitution and Sex Work.
Sherry serves on the board of Western Writers of America, and holds memberships in the Author’s Guild, Women Writing the West, and Western Writers International.
Sherry’s ability to research and develop concepts and ideas, as well as manger those programs, makes her an excellent choice to head up your next project or campaign.
